The intervention included a rear extension of the home, subtly shifted to enhance privacy while strengthening the integration of indoor and outdoor spaces. A direct access to the basement was created through a sunken courtyard, which not only maximizes natural light in what is often a dark area but also visually lightens the structure by creating a floating effect.
Large openings were introduced to enhance natural light and create spatial continuity between the interior and the garden. The choice of materials—pale brick and light-colored cladding—ensures visual harmony with the existing structure while minimizing the risk of overheating. Subtle brickwork projections enliven the façade, allowing it to interact with natural elements and reflect the passage of time.
Inside, the layout favors open, adaptable, and light-filled spaces. Built-in storage and modular partitions support daily functionality while maintaining a sense of openness. A biophilic atmosphere was carefully developed through the use of textured materials, the integration of greenery into fixed furniture, and organic forms within the design of built-ins and furnishings.
This project reflects a thoughtful architectural approach where the built environment recedes to enhance daily life through a deeper connection with nature—all while meeting the practical needs of contemporary family living.
